Although it’s (unfortunately) no longer a Holy Day of Obligation, there will be a Sung Mass for the Epiphany at St Mary’s Pine Bluff at 6:30 PM.
This Wednesday, December 4, will be the first anniversary of the interment of His Excellency, Bishop Robert Morlino. To commemorate, we will have a Solemn Requiem Mass to pray for the repose of his soul. The Requiem Mass will be at St Mary’s Pine Bluff, at 6:30 PM.

The forty days, which St. Luke tells us in Acts had passed between Christ’s Resurrection and His glorious Ascent into Heaven, are nearly completed. On Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 6:30 PM, we will have a Solemn Mass at St. Mary’s Pine Bluff to commemorate the Ascension of Our Lord.
On Sunday, 28 April, the 7:30 AM Mass at St Mary’s Pine Bluff will be a Solemn Mass for the Octave Day of Easter / Low Sunday. We will also be singing the Te Deum immediately after Mass in thanksgiving for the appointment of our new bishop.

Yesterday, our Holy Thursday observance began with sung Tenebræ, featuring our newly-acquired hearse. In the evening, for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, we had a Solemn Mass with the debut of our splendid new white vestments, which arrived from Rome only one week ago. Here are some photos:

For those new to (or intimidated by) the demands of Holy Mass celebrated in song, the congregational responses are the easiest way to enter into this habit that Mother Church ardently desires for both the glorification of God and the good of her children.
The responses below are listed in the order in which they are uttered during Holy Mass.
*Spoken, even during Sung Masses.
The melodies of four of the movements of the Ordinary of Holy Mass—that is, the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei—ideally change according to the season or feast. As the differing colors of the vestments of the Priest, Deacon, and Subdeacon, etc., visually call attention to the season or feast, the variety of the melodies of the chants aurally call attention to the season or feast.
Below are the melodies employed at the Traditional Latin Mass as celebrated at St. Mary of Pine Bluff and at the Bishop O’Connor Center.
The melody of the Credo changes less frequently due to its length.
On Sundays before the principal Mass, the Priest and ministers sprinkle the faithful with Holy Water. On Sundays outside of Easter, the Asperges me is sung to one of two melodies. During Eastertide, the Vidi aquam is sung to its own melody.
After the sprinkling, the following responses are sung by the congregation:
The 7:30 AM Sunday Mass at St. Mary of Pine Bluff is treated as a principal Mass.
While not strictly part of the Order of Mass, the custom is observed at Sung Masses celebrated at St. Mary Pine Bluff in which the seasonal antiphon to the Blessed Virgin Mary is sung after the conclusion of the Last Gospel.

St. Cecilia Parish in Wisconsin Dells has just announced that they will be offering Traditional Latin Mass at 12:30pm every Sunday, starting September 27th. The First Sunday of every month will be a Missa Cantata.
Today is the 13th anniversary of the release of the text of Benedict XVI’s Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum. This Motu Proprio established that, juridically, there are two forms of one Roman Rite. Hence, if a priest has the faculties to say the “Novus Ordo”, then he also has the faculties to say the Traditional Latin Mass. Furthermore, it established that pastors of parishes, not the local bishop, can determine how Summorum Pontificum is to be implemented in their parishes.
This is perhaps the most important thing that Benedict XVI did in his pontificate and it will have a significant, enduring effect on the Latin Church, particularly in the face of the demographic shifts in the Church which have been accelerated by the COVID crisis.
Today, please say a prayer of thanksgiving for Summorum Pontificum and for long life of healthy and happy years for Benedict XVI.
